From April 1^st 2011 to April 15^th 2011 the Dau Tieng reservoir  will cut off the water supply for maintenance the structures. From April 15^th 2011 and will open water of  East main canal for supplying water in Summer Autumn 2011;

 In the short term, Dau Tieng reservoir, which supplies 100 million cubic metres of water every year to homes as well as industries, and regulates water flow to downstream areas where HCM City is based, will be used to tackle the salinity problem.

Deputy head of the Irrigation Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dang Duy Hien, said when the fee was reduced or waived altogether, farmers accurately reported the areas under cultivation instead of generally understating them as previously to save on payments.

In February 2011, the expanse of salt of the south rivers comes soon and deep comparing with the same time last year. In the next days, the salt degree will increase, will affect the water for irrigation, drainage and living of Ho Chi Minh City’s people
